CDC Released 2010 Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Resources
CDC has issued the following resources to address various impacts of the environmental crisis caused by the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill. Nurses caring for patients exposed to the oil or various chemicals such as those in the dispersants benefit from access to this information including health surveillance and occupational exposure information.
Of particular interest to nurses in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi is a map under health surveillance information with reports of state-based surveillance systems tracking of oil spill-related health effects that might be related to occupational or non-occupational exposure. CDC will be providing periodic updates to this information
