I am moving to Massachusetts and need information on licensure. What do I need to do?
In Massachusetts, the state regulatory/licensing agency is the Board of Registration in Nursing located in Boston. You can contact them through their website address: www.state.ma.us/reg/boards/rn or through the main number: 617-727-9961.
How can I join MARN?
If you click on the Membership Application links on our membership page, you will be connected directly to the ANA Membership page. There you will receive instructions for downloading a membership application or for joining online with a credit card. Online application requires a credit card payment for the full annual dues. Completed membership applications and dues payments should be returned to the ANA Membership Department for processing, not to MARN.
What should I do if I am unable to download a membership application?
Anyone who is unable to download an application should contact MARN at info@MARNonline.org or 617-990-2856
. Once we receive your name and mailing address, we will mail you a membership application form.
What does MARN membership cost?
MARN annual dues are currently $249/year. $134 of your dues goes to ANA and the remainder is sent to MARN by ANA.
What payment options are available?
Three options are currently available. Payment can be made by check for the full annual dues amount. Online application processing requires a credit card payment for the entire dues amount. Monthly EFT payments are also an available option and involve a monthly deduction from a member's checking account.
What benefits will I currently receive as a member of MARN?
When you become a member of MARN, along with your membership card, you automatically become eligible for ANA member benefits. Some ANA benefits include: savings of up to $140 on ANCC certification and recertification; online CE at 33%-100% less cost than non-members; The American Nurse (TAN) issues free (a $20 value); American Nurse Today free; discounts on travel, home, auto insurance.
I am an advanced practice nurse and need to renew my certification through ANCC. What do I need to do to continue to receive the discount on certification?
In order to receive the ANCC certification discount benefit, you must belong to a state nurses association. MARN is the official ANA constituent state member in Massachusetts.
How can I become an active member of MARN?
There are a number of ways MARN members can become active in the organization. Inquire about the following:
- Newsletter Committee
- Mentoring Task Force
- Membership Committee
- Health Policy Committee
- Continuing Education Committee
- Board of Directors
- New Graduate Seat on the BOD
- ANA Delegate
In addition, only members are eligible to run for elected office.

As a MARN member, can I get involved at the national level through the ANA?
As a member of MARN, you are eligible to run for elected national offices or to be considered for various ANA appointments. One such opportunity is running for election as an ANA delegate. If elected, you would represent MARN at the ANA House of Delegates.
